Wildfire Book Review

Wildfire Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. I have to say this one really surprised me, so let's get into it!

This is the second book in the Maple Hills series by Hannah Grace. We follow hockey player, Russ and Aurora. They end up crossing paths at a party. They hook up, but then she sneaks out without a word to him. With the expectation now that Russ will never see her again, imagine his surprise when he shows up to his summer job to find out she is also going to be working there. All. Summer. Long.

Aurora is a rule breaker and trying to get her life together. She's volunteering at a summer camp she loved as a child. Also never expecting to see Russ again, she's just as surprised to see him. The camp has a "no staff fraternizing" rule. Aurora is a rule breaker at heart and will do everything she can to get Russ to break the rules with her. They both have their own baggage to deal with, so is a relationship really something they can both handle?

I had read the first book in this series, Icebreaker, a few years ago, and to be honest, I don't remember really liking it. It was good, but it wasn't show stopping for me. I actually picked this book up at the bookstore on a whim plus I really like the cover art.

I'm so happy I did because I loved this one! I loved Russ and Aurora. I loved how they communicated and actually tried to communicate even with the harder conversations they needed to have. I loved how they fought for each other. They understood the other's baggage and insecurities.

Russ was such a shy little cutie. I loved his character, and I wish I read more books with a shy male main character. It was a refreshing break from the f*ck boy trope.

Aurora was also fierce and so unapologetically herself. I loved how she treated Russ and put him first. She made him feel wanted, and honestly their relationship was so cute.

This was a really fast read. I believe the paperback is either under 300 pages or just above 300. It's a super fast and cute read. I gave this 4/5 stars. Overall, I highly recommend!

Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
