When I'm Dead Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today I am back with another book review, so let's dive right in!

When I'm Dead by Hannah Morrissey was my October Book of the Month pick. Out of all my BOTM thriller picks, this is one of my least favorites. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed this book, but there were points when it was hard to get through.

We are given multiple point of view chapters from a lot of different characters. Mainly Rowan and Axel, their daughter, Chloe, is missing, and then Libby who was Chloe's friend. Young girls are turning up left and right murdered and brutally mutilated. The police are trying to catch the killer and trying to find Chloe before she suffers the same fate if she hasn't already.

I liked having the multiple perspectives because there were things some characters knew that others didn't, but as the reader we had all the facts the entire time. So, we ultimately had way more knowledge than the detectives on the case. And for there being a lot of characters, it was easy to keep everyone and their relations straight.

There were some gory parts as the characters described the murdered bodies once they found them. More gore than I'm used to in a thriller. However, I did just read a bunch of cozy mysteries before reading this, so that could also be why it was such a shock to read those details.

I think there needed to be more action. Everything felt like it was in slow motion. I was motivated to keep reading because I wanted to know who was responsible for the murders. I wanted to know what happened to Chloe.

This was a very short book, a little over 300 pages. So, its a fast read. I don't think I would recommend because I've read better short thriller reads.

Overall, I would give it 3/5 stars!

Alright folks, that is all I have for this week. Come back next Wednesday for another blog post! As always thank you for reading:)
