Then She Was Gone Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today I am back with another book review, and this thriller author is slowly becoming one of my favorites! So, let's get into it!

Then She Was Gone, is told in multiple parts from multiple points of view. We primarily follow, Laurel's perspective. Her daughter, Ellie Mack disappeared and no one has been able to find anything about where she went, who took her, where she is now, etc. Now Laurel is faced with the realization that Ellie is never going to come home. But one day Laurel, meets Floyd and before long she's meeting his daughter...who has a striking resemblance to Ellie. Laurel is determined to find out what happened to her daughter.

This book had a lot of twists and turns I wasn't expecting. It was also sadder than I was anticipating. Really really sad--just a warning. The lead up to the end was really gut wrenching. Its crazy because you know to an extent what has to happen but even with that knowledge you're still left hoping it isn't true. You're rooting for a happy ending.

The story was told through multiple perspectives...most of the time we would get Laurel, sometimes we would get Ellie or Floyd. I thught it was really intersting that Laurel's perspective was always third person, but when it was Floyd's or someone else's with a more mixed intent the point of view is written in first person. As if they are trying to appeal to the reader more so than the other characters in the book. In general, the characters were really well-developed, and I thought everyone came full circle at the end of the book. Everyone was really well-written.

It's a fast paced read, and this type of book could definitely pull you out of a reading slump. It also makes me want to read Lisa Jewell's other books as well. I think she has published at least 10 thrillers. That might be one of my new goals.

Overall, I would highly recommend. I would rate this 4/5 stars. It's definitely worth the read!

Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post! As always, thank you for reading:)
