The Secret Bridesmaid Book Review

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. As someone who is getting married later this year, I have been gravitating towards all the lovey, sappy, romantic wedding books. My sister gifted me this as a Christmas gift last year. I'm super excited to get even more into the wedding spirit, so let's get into it!
In The Secret Bridesmaid, we follow Sophie, who has made it her career pretending to be a bridesmaid. This can entail anything from being a friend, helping to plan the wedding, helping to plan the bachelorette, making sure the day-of goes off without a hitch, etc. Sometimes she's hired by the bride herself, other times the mother, and sometimes the groom doesn't even know. One day, an old client reaches out to Sophie about a potential mega-deal of a client. Think along the lines of British Royalty but down a step. Not a princess but the next best thing...that's the vibe. Except this bride doesn't want Sophie around at all and makes her job a thousand times harder. But Sophie is determined to see this wedding through to the end.
This was such a cute book. It reminded me a lot of The Wedding Ringer by Kerry Rea. There was a large focus on friendship which I love especially when you hear wedding you're thinking of...more of a traditional romance story. There was some romance in there, but it was on the back burner. Not a major part of the plot but still there; more of a side character if you will. I really liked being able to see Sophie and Cordelia (the nightmare bride) slowly become friends.
Cordelia was very intense and very closed off to the idea of her mother hiring her a bridesmaid (someone to play her friend and help plan). Which I get. She thought she had to pay for a friend and doesn't like letting people get close to her after a traumatic experience.
Another thing I really enjoyed was seeing Sophie's interactions with the other brides and all the crazy requests she would get. Some of them were really out there (like the Chewbacca request...). But also seeing how hard it can be to organize a group of people; Sophie was definitely good at her job. The emails and text messages were just hilarious. This book made me laugh out loud so many times.
Anyways, I really liked the friendship between Cordelia and Sophie. I loved how it was written, and seeing Sophie chip away at Cordelia's rough exterior was really sweet.
Overall, I gave this 3/5 stars. I would highly recommend. It's such a fast and cute read.
Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
