The Housemaid Book Review

The Housemaid Book Review

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. This has been on my TBR for such a long time. Once I heard it was becoming a movie with Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried I knew it was time to pick this up. So, let's get into it!

We follow Millie as she applies to the housemaid position for the Winchesters. Millie is looking for a fresh start after a dramatic past. The Winchesters need help with the upkeep of housework and taking care of their daughter. As Millie works for the Winchesters, she realizes this picture perfect family is not what they seem.

I have to say that this book is worth the hype. I was a little nervous going in because Frieda McFadden is a really hit or miss for me. The other three books I've read of hers (The Co-Worker, Never Lie, and The Boyfriend) were good (The Boyfriend was very good) but not blow my mind great. I was pleasantly surprised though! I could not guess the ending, but there were some more predictable parts; it was definitely a book that kept me on my feet.

I really liked that we got so many different perspectives. It was even better how McFadden structured the book. We didn't get all the perspectives at once if that makes sense.

This reminded me a lot of Verity by Colleen Hoover. I think Verity is better and is a little darker, but if you liked that you'd enjoy The Housemaid.

Overall, I gave this 5/5 stars. I really liked the characters, I liked the structure, and I liked how everything was wrapped up at the end. That said, I don't think I would continue the series because for me, the end of this book was a good way to end things. I haven't read the synopsis for the others, but for now, I'm going to stop with the first.

I'm super excited for the movie now that I've read the book. I think the casting so far is top-notch and will really make for a great adaptation.

Alright folks, that is all I have for today! Come back next week for another blog post! As always, thank you for reading:)
