The Favorites Book Review

The Favorites Book Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today, I am back with another book review. I have heard so much about this book and was so excited to finally pick it up. So, let's get into it!

In The Favorites by Layne Fargo, we follow Kat Shaw and Heath Rocha a scandalous ice dancing pair. Their chemistry is off the charts and everyone loves them. They've had their fair share of scandal, and after years of friendship and romance, they went their separate ways. Years later a tell-all interview is coming out about the pair. They shocked the world with their dancing, their relationship, and ultimately their fall-out. Now the real story is finally being told.

Honestly, this book was so heartbreaking. The story of Katrina and Heath was so all consuming; they really went through it all. There were so many ups and downs. I loved and hated all the characters. Once I really got into the book, I couldn't put it down.

I hated Kat's character in the beginning. I hated how she treated Heath. Then I read more and suddenly I didn't like Heath. Fast forward again, and I loved Kat. The push and pull of the characters was such excellent writing.

The interview style parts were some of my favorites. It reminded me a lot of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by TJR. It added a lot of suspense as those type of documentaries typically do.

I've read a book by Layne Fargo previously, a thriller called They Never Learn, so a genre switch from Fargo kind of threw me. But I loved her thriller, so I knew this would be no exception.

The best way to describe this book would be the song The Last Time by Taylor Swift ft. Gary Lightbody. This song perfectly encapsulates this book. (If you know you know).

Overall, I gave this 5/5 stars, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Alright folks, that is all I have for this week! Come back next Wednesday for another blog post. As always, thank you for reading :)
